THIS IS MY SON AHMED. HE WAS OFFICIALLY DIAGNOSED WITH AUTISM ADHD POSSIBLE BI-POLAR DISORDER AT THE AGE OF 3. HE WAS SEVERE, NOT SPEAKING AT ALL AND INFLICTING PAIN UNTO HIMSELF, TANTRUMS, NIGHT TERRORS…. SINCE THEN HE HAS PROGRESSED REMARKABLY OVER THE PAST YEAR AND HALF. HE CAN NOW SPEAK FULL SENTENCES, ALTHOUGH HIS SOCIAL INTERACTIONS ARE SOMETIMES INAPPROPRIATE, HE IS BLOSSOMING AT SCHOOL AND JUST LAST WEEK WE HAVE ACCOMPLISHED FULL POTTY TRAINING!! IF YOU HAVE A CHILD WITH AUTISM, YOU UNDERSTAND THE SMALL ACOMPLISHMENTS!! AND PLEASE BE AWARE THAT EARLY INTERVENTION IS KEY! DONT LET ANYONE INCLUDING YOUR PEDIATRICIAN TELL YOU THAT YOUR CHILD IS "JUST A LITTLE BEHIND" …IF SOMETHING DOESNT FEEL RIGHT WITH YOUR CHILD, ACT ON THAT FEELING AND DEMAND AN EVALUATION. IF YOUR PEDIATRICIAN CANNOT DO IT, ASK HIM FOR A REFERRAL TO SOMEONE WHO CAN!

@ASDogGeek This is very true! my brother is autistic. My brother is VERY Smart! They can do so much more than us, normally, and he does not talk, moslty only using sign language. We are able to understand him, but life can sometimes still be very hard! I have been very well educated about Autism that my brother has. I have all of the info. Sensory is his main issue. Imagine his life! People need to stop being rude to other people because their not the same as them, because thats how life is!
Hi,
My Brother has Low-functioning Autism. And I do Understand those little accomplishments. Although, he does not have any tantrums, sometimes, dealing with him is hard. He is non-verbal, so that makes it harder. In school, they are trying to toilet Train him, unfourtently, that has not worked. We trying so many differnent things. If you have any suggesions, could you please help me. Not much will bother him, but has major sensory issues. He takes occupational and speech therapy for that.
I appreciate your post. My son also has Hyposensitive Autism w/ADHD & OCD, & does not sleep hardly at all. Literally..at times he stays up ALL night. Luckily last night, I was able to get 4 hrs of sleep. He resembles ‘Neil’ in the ‘Autism A Musical’ movie. He does speak but has trouble w/some words, & has dev. delay. He’s great. It’s hard for others to understand. His ADHD takes center stage most of time. Tantrums in every store, meltdowns periodically, & sometimes violent defiance. I applaud u.
Thank you for this post. Could you share any tips on potty/toilet training? It’s for my 4 year old who has autism. He is non-verbal at the moment. Thank you.
this isn’t autism this is how autism effects him. wordings important. autism is souly what is going on inside of his head- this is like showing people a picture of a band and saying this is sound.
Stay strong and help him through through all his frustrating times he will go through. I see this is an older video, but understand that the changes he will go through as a child will often frustrate him while he learns to adapt and communicate. His frustration and tantrums are most likely a result from that very frustration of not being able to communicate and also possible sensory over stimulation. Keep patient and remember learning and school are very important in his adapting.
My 3 1/2 year old grandson is autistic. It has been frustrating at times trying to get him the help he needs. He is in no way ready to toilet train and will not even put the underwear on. He can say some words but not talk in sentences. He uses many phrases he picks up through tv and such. He is a wizz on the computer and Ipad but cannot tell you he wants a drink of water. Sometimes he has meltdowns from outside stimuli such as going to the store or a lawn mower down the street.
@Lilbengman44 you are just trying toanger a lot of people arent you. you have no idea what it is like to hae autism. autism isn’t an excuse it is a reality. imagine for a moment that you struggle to find the words you want to say or cant speak at all. Imagine having no way to filter sensory info and hightend scence, imagine not being able to understand body langauge imagine living in a world where no one understand you and certain texture smells sound or colors cause you pain welcome to autism
Wow you really do not understand Autism at all. What a joke, your approach is completely and totally off. You obviously, are not reading into your child’s NONverbal cues, and haven’t taken the time to really try to understand him. Pathetic.

Recently our five year old has started doing the same sort of screaming and crying. It looks just like Ahmed’s tantrums. We have noticed episodes peak on after meals and suspect it may be food related (not all of the issues only the extremeness of the tantrums). We are having him tested for wheat and gluten intolerance as well as casein.
Good luck. I hope that he can be happy as it is the same thing we wish for our boy.
